  • Learn how a business founder says becoming a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach has changed the course of his business.

On a recent Called to Coach: India Edition, we spoke with Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach Aseem Hanspal.

Aseem is a cofounder and principal consultant at SKOPE Business Consulting. He says becoming a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach changed the course of his business. During consulting engagements, he used to look for areas of improvement in a company. He would focus on a weaker area and try to build on it. Now, his approach is strengths-based, he finds what people and companies are doing good and builds on that.

Aseem started using CliftonStrengths in his own company first before offering consulting around strengths. Looking at the strengths of his company's leaders, he realized why there was always a lot of energy and buzz around new projects, but not a lot of follow-through. He saw Activator and Command high, but knew there needed to be different people with different strengths pulled in to execute on the projects. He saw a lot of success using strengths in his own company before coaching strengths in other organizations. Aseem says it was difficult approaching companies about implementing strengths at first. They have their CliftonStrengths in their email signatures, which helps start conversations, and they give the StrengthsFinder book out to lots of leaders as well. Eventually, they figured out that if they approach people with the team aspect, then they are more interested. They usually start with a one-day team workshop using the team strengths grid and it creates a lot of interest. From there, the leader usually asks "what's next?" and that's how they move into one-on-one coaching within organizations.

Aseem Hanspal's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Significance, Focus, Achiever, Self-Assurance and Woo.
