Developer: Learning to Love All 34 Talent Themes

Webcast Details

  • Gallup Theme Thursday Webcast Series
  • Season 1, Developer
  • Learn how themes form the core of CliftonStrengths and how to understand and appreciate your own -- and others' -- strengths, as we focus on Developer.

On a recent Theme Thursday Season 1 live webcast, we discussed the Developer theme with Ronny Miller, President of the Gallup Federal Credit Union.

People talented in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential of others. They can quickly recognize the talent of others and derive satisfaction from others' growth. Developer has the vision to see the potential in others. When people grow in their talents and strengths, it gives Developers fuel. Developers are patient, growth-oriented, encouraging, effective, self-sacrificing and helpful. Developer acts as an advisor, stimulator, investor, coach, mentor, teacher, encourager and "stretcher" -- they help people stretch their talents. Developers rejoice in helping others grow and cultivate their talents.

Ronny has worked for Gallup for 19 years. In his role, Ronny helps credit union members achieve financial goals. Ronny understands that talking about money can be uncomfortable, and event taboo. His Developer strength makes Ronny sincerely invested in helping them achieve financial growth. Ronny said, "Financial health is the most rewarding part of my job." Ronny helps credit union members understand that achieving financial goals will help their overall wellbeing.

Ronny also manages "a small, but incredibly talented, team." He leans on his Developer strength to challenge each team member. Ronny meets with each of his employees once a week for a one-hour meeting. In those meetings, Ronny asks his team members three questions, "What do I need from you?", "What do you need from me?", and "How can we hold each other accountable until our next meeting?" These questions generate goals for the employees, but also for Ronny. They drive growth and development for the entire team.

To learn more about Developer and how Ronny uses it in his everyday life, watch the full video or listen to the audio above.

Ronny Miller's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Positivity, Individualization, Maximizer, Arranger and Developer.
