Input: Learning to Love All 34 Talent Themes

Webcast Details

  • Gallup Theme Thursday Webcast Series
  • Season 1, Input
  • Learn how themes form the core of CliftonStrengths and how to understand and appreciate your own -- and others' -- strengths, as we focus on Input.

On a recent Theme Thursday Season 1 live webcast, we discussed the Input theme with Stephen Shields, Gallup Senior Learning and Development Consultant.

People with strong Input talents bring tools that can facilitate growth and performance. They love to provide relevant and tangible help to others. Their resourcefulness and curiosity lead them to store knowledge that can be culled and shared.

Gallup Senior Learning and Development Consultant Curt Liesveld describes those with high Input as seeing the value in "stuff." Whether it is something tangible, like a tool, or intangible, like information and resources, people with Input are likely to have a strong appreciation for it.

Out of more than 11 million people who have taken the CliftonStrengths assessment, 20% have Input as one of their Top 5 strengths -- the sixth-highest frequency of any strength. Curt says this might be because people with Input see the value of the assessment and want to use it as a resource to use in their everyday lives.

Stephen's Input shines the most when he has the opportunity to absorb information. He says e-readers and audio books are some of his most appreciated possessions, because he can take his library of books anywhere he goes. This trait of constantly reading and soaking up knowledge is common for those with Input, and is a reason why the Intellection theme is its most commonly paired partner.

To hear more about the Input theme and how people like Stephen use it in their everyday lives, watch the full video or listen to the audio above.

Stephen Shields' Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Input, Maximizer, Individualization, Activator and Ideation.
