On a recent episode of Theme Thursday Season 1, we sat down with Gallup's Curt Liesveld to focus our attention on the Deliberative theme. Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach Dian Christian also joined us, as she proudly holds Deliberative in her Top 5 CliftonStrengths.

People with strong Deliberative talents bring a thorough and conscientious approach to their endeavors. They have the ability to reduce risk and prevent problems through natural anticipation and careful thought. As a result, they tend to make outstanding decisions.

People with high Deliberative have a keen awareness and sensitivity to risk. This drives them to be careful decision-makers, constantly striving to prevent adverse things from happening.

Dian tells us that her Deliberative theme plays a significant role in her tendency to make well-thought-out decisions. Deliberators aren't cautious for the sake of being cautious; people who are high in Deliberative exercise calculated restraint for the sake of success.

One phrase that Curt considers to be prominent among those with high Deliberative is, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." He goes on to explain that not all successful people are "early birds who get the worm." Sometimes it's imperative to use caution and think things through. This is something that those with Deliberative in their Top 5 do well.

To learn more about the Deliberative theme and how people like Dian use it in their everyday lives, watch the full video above.

Dian Christian's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Focus, Significance, Ideation, Input and Deliberative.
