Called to Coach Strengths Spotlight -- Robert Scoble (Jan. 21, 2014)
On our last Called to Coach, we hosted Robert Scoble for our first installment of the Strengths Spotlight.
Robert uses his strengths in his role every day as the Startup Liaison Officer at Rackspace. His top five strengths are Activator, Woo, Strategic, Achiever, and Learner.
Robert notes that his Activator theme gives him his impatience, but not in a bad way. He is constantly on the cutting edge of new technology and is always looking to be the first one to try new innovations.
As a public-facing figure for Rackspace, Robert uses his Woo theme to connect with startup leaders in the technology industry. He scours the front lines, talking to executives of up-and-coming companies, while learning about their products and work culture.
Complementary Strengths Partnerships
Although we use our strengths every day, there are voids that can be filled by others with complementary strengths. For example, Robert’s work can get hectic, so some of his best partners are those who can help him stay organized and grounded.
Robert strongly recommends using StrengthsFinder when starting a new company. He says the first 20 people you hire lay out the framework for the future of your organization. If those initial employees know what it is that they do best, they are more likely to work well together and create a successful organization.
